Translation: Sweet Milk. What is it? It is sweetened condensed milk that has been caramelized. Pardon me while I dab the drool from my mouth...it is ¡deliciosa! How do you use it? You can eat it with a spoon, spread it on toast, pour over ice cream, use it as a dipping sauce for fruit, pound cake, cookies, etc. I like to spread it on the backs of two vanilla cookies, smoosh them together and (cue the angels singing): eat! Below are 2 websites for different (and easy) methods for making your own Dulce de leche. Enjoy!
Baker's Royale This site provides instructions on making dulce de leche on the stovetop, oven and microwave. A Year of Slow Cooking One of my all-time favorite sites for busy (translate: lazy) chefs like me, author Stephanie O'Dea shows you how to make this sweet treat in the Crockpot. Many of you, especially Spanish IV students, have very busy schedules. By your request, I have made available to you my personal Task Schedule. It is an MS Word document. Feel free to download it and alter it to fit your personal needs. It is a great way in our hectic lives to make sure we have divided our time wisely to accomplish necessary tasks and to make sure we schedule in some leisure time, too!
